are interested in obtaining permission to use music for
your video production. Some but not all of our music mixes are available for use in video productions. Many of our customers assume that since they've purchased a B&K HOWE CD, it would be available to use as background music for their video production. This is a common misconception and the following information should clarify any questions you might have. |
| Q: Can I just use any CD as music in my video? |
| No, By law, one must obtain two licenses from two different sources for each song used on any video regardless of the nature of the video. The first license, the Master Use License, permits the use of the actual sound recording of a song. This is obtained from the company owning the master, which in most cases is the record company. The second license is called a Synchronization (Sync) License and is obtained from the publisher of the song. The publisher represents the composers and authors of the song, and the record company represents the artists and producers. This is why you cannot use your consumer CD in your video. |
| Q: So where do I get video music? |
| Our songs have been used in many of your favorite video programs including Cathe Friedrich, Karen Voight, Keli Roberts, CIA, Rob Glick, Crunch, The Firm, Turbo Jam, Urban Rebounding, Fitness Quest, FitTV, & many, many more! Since BIG BEAT MUZIC owns the recordings and the compositions BIG BEAT MUZIC can grant you the license to manufacture videos with music from their catalog. And with the advances in the Internet you can now preview our entire music catalog, select your favorite songs or save money by using on of our FULL LENGTH MIXES! |
| Q: Are there any CDs on your website that I can use as is? |
| A: Yes, we have a several CDs that are controlled entirely by BIG BEAT MUZIC / B&K HOWE. You can find this list when you visit this link FULL LENGTH MIXES. But if you are more interested in using some of our theme productions or our Top 40 CDs, you can license our remakes, but you will still have to contact the publishers of the compositions. In some cases, our club mixes can also be fully licensed including all publishing, master & synch rights. If this is the direction you would prefer, contact us and we will help you get started. |
| EXPLANATION OF FEES: |
| Each "fee" grants full license (master, publishing, synch) for the "one time use" of each paid song for one specified project title (video, DVD, Web Stream, TV spot, Radio Spot). Fee does not grant multiple uses of same song within project without additional licensing fees. Fees are generally good for the life of the completed product. Licenses are good for world wide use. |

Fee is good for up to six minutes of any song unless specified. Average length of songs range between 4-6 minutes. Additional license fees may apply for extending a song past 6 minutes Regardless of what is used in final project. |
Deposit of 50% required prior to starting any project. Final balance due upon project completion. Project is not delivered until final balance is paid. Any additional work to project (revisions, additions, editing, etc) once delivered will require advance payment before such work is performed and delivered. Standard turn-a-round is 7 days from date of receiving deposit and any required materials, project notes and/or masters. Turn-a-round does not include shipping time (standard ups ground unless specified).
